Light and Shade: Angelus Introduces the Flying Tourbillon Titanium
This season Angelus introduces the Flying Tourbillon Titanium, a stunning showcase of an open-worked haute-horlogerie mechanism. Within the brand’s contemporary round case, consisting of a carbon composite container surrounded by a titanium case middle with a notched bezel, the new hand-wound manufacture caliber A-310 takes center stage and puts its technical prowess on full display from all angles.
Naturally, the flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock, with its carriage bridge angled at 160 degrees, is the aesthetic highlight within the open-worked blue PVD treated main plate and bridges. However, other sophisticated details, such as the large barrel which stores up to 60 hours of power reserve, the gear train, and the seconds wheel, are revealed in full beauty.
The suspended Arabic hour numerals, executed in typical Angelus style, add to the airy aura of the Flying Tourbillon Titanium. Thanks to Super-luminova coating, they display the time in the darkness. The same is true for the hour and minute hands. Together, they literally illuminate the mechanism beneath and give them a mysterious impression.
The beautifully chamfered and polished titanium case has a diameter of 42.5 mm and measures 11.45 mm thick. Limited to 25 pieces, the watch is available with a single-row titanium bracelet and a matte-blue alligator leather strap. Both are supplied with an additional blue rubber strap. They retail for CHF 47,000 (approximately $52,000) and CHF 45,000 (approximately $49,800).
