Ladies Only: Blancpain Debuts First Fifty Fathoms Automatique Models for Women
Blancpain, a pioneer in the realm of dive watches, introduces a new chapter in its Fifty Fathoms Automatique collection. With the debut of two new Fifty Fathoms Automatique references— Ref. 5007 3644A and Ref. 5007 12B44R— the brand introduces, for the first time, a 38mm x 12mm case tailored specifically for women in this line. This is not a scaled-down replica of an existing timepiece; it is an entirely reimagined evolution of the storied diver’s watch, with balanced proportions and a refined silhouette.
The two new models— one in polished red gold with a smoky black dégradé dial, the other in brushed grade 23 titanium with a radiant petal pink dial, likewise enhanced by a color gradient—bring expressive elegance to the deep-sea legend. Both watch faces are crafted in mother-of-pearl, their iridescence shifting in light like the sun dancing on the ocean’s surface.
They are powered by Blancpain’s caliber 1153, an in-house automatic movement known for its 100-hour power reserve (four days) and antimagnetic silicon balance spring, which comes to life through the sapphire case back. The watch offers full diving capability, with 300 meters of water resistance, and maintains Blancpain’s hallmark features: a unidirectional sapphire bezel and luminescent markers ensuring readability in the most challenging underwater environments.
More than elegant timepieces, the additions reflect the spirit of the Blancpain Ocean Commitment—a testament to the brand’s deep dedication to ocean preservation. In partnership with Oceanographic Magazine, Blancpain launched the Ocean Photographer of the Year (OPY) competition in 2020. This global initiative celebrates outstanding ocean photography across a variety of categories, showcasing the power of visual storytelling in marine conservation. Furthering this mission, the Female Fifty Fathoms Award was introduced in 2021 to specifically recognize the work of women photographers. This award honours those whose images not only capture the ocean’s beauty and fragility but also inspire action to protect it.
Speaking on the occasion, Blancpain President and CEO Marc A. Hayek emphasized the broader cultural and ecological vision behind the release. “These watches meet the growing demand for sporty, yet elegant timepieces perfectly tailored to slimmer wrists. They stand as a testament to our watchmaking heritage and to the women who, through their art and courage, reveal the wonders of the underwater world.”
With a variety of strap options—from striped fabric to black tropic rubber, sailcloth, and NATO—each model can shift from sea to city with seamless style. The pink edition, particularly with its dual-tone striped strap, pulses with youthful energy.
The retail price for the black edition ranges from CHF26,100 to CHF29,000 or approximately $26,100 to $35,330 when converted to USD. The pink variant is priced from CHF15,500 to CHF18,200 or approximately $18,890 to $22,170.
Both models are unlimited editions and available now at Blancpain boutiques and select authorized retailers worldwide.
