Hublot Celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the OpusX Cigar with a Special Edition Classic Fusion Chronograph
In recent years, collaborations within the luxury watch industry have become an important trend, prompting both brands and designers to combine their expertise and creativity. These partnerships range from collaborations between watchmakers and automotive brands, motorsport teams, to projects with artists, designers, athletes, film and music stars, museums, cultural events, and even manufacturers of other luxury and lifestyle products. Through these collaborations, brands strengthen their presence and solidify their position as pioneers in watch design.
Hublot is one of the most prominent names in this field and has long embraced exclusive partnerships with global sports icons and renowned brand ambassadors who embody the values of innovation, art, culture, and luxury. Among these collaborations are the French footballer Kylian Mbappé and tennis legend Novak Djokovic, with whom Hublot recently launched a special edition of the Big Bang Chronograph, named after him. In a stunning twist of the manufacture's fusion of materials motto, this timepiece features parts from his game-used rackets and shirts integrated into the case.
The latest special edition was created in partnership with the Arturo Fuente cigar factory, based in the Dominican Republic, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the OpusX cigar, which is regarded as one of the finest cigars in the world by connoisseurs.
The Classic Fusion Chronograph Arturo Fuente King Gold is already the sixth special edition to emerge from this collaboration. For the first time, both the 42.0 x 11.9mm case and the bezel are made from Hublot's proprietary 18 kt. King Gold alloy.
On the bezel, small laser-engraved tobacco leaves reflect the theme of the collaboration. This is also echoed in the choice of color for the two-counter dial, which features a striking emerald green with a sunray finish and a fumé effect that darkens towards the edges, creating contrast and depth. The subsidiary seconds at 3 o'clock showcases the anniversary version of the OpusX logo in gold and green.
A tribute is also paid on the case back, made of solid 18kt King Gold, where a small engraved and painted artwork commemorates the 25th anniversary of the OpusX. Inside, the HUB1153 automatic chronograph movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of 48 hours.
Limited to 50 pieces, the Classic Fusion Chronograph Arturo Fuente King Gold is equipped with a green alligator leather strap with a rubber inlay and comes in a green-painted watch box that also functions as a cigar humidor.
Pricing is marked at $40,500.
