Blancpain Makes a Colorful Splash with Fifty Fathoms Tech-nicolors
At the height of summer and the diving season, Blancpain unveils the new Fifty Fathoms Tech 45 mm as a permanent member of its core collection. Dubbed “Tech-nicolors” for its vibrant palette, the release brings a fresh lifestyle twist to one of professional diving’s most trusted instruments, while carrying on the technological legacy of the Fifty Fathoms. At its debut in 1953, this legendary watch was considered the first modern diver and a major innovation for the category, complete with superior water resistance and dial legibility, alongside the now standard and signature unidirectional bezel with diving scale. The next-generation Fifty Fathoms thus features the “Tech” name to highlight its innovative effort.
Housed in lightweight grade 23 titanium and water-resistant to 300 meters, the Fifty Fathoms Tech-nicolors retains the uncompromising functionality that has defined the Fifty Fathoms from day one. Like the limited Tech Combessa Fifty Fathoms launched in 2023 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the iconic diver, the 45mm case delivers presence and performance, featuring a helium escape valve, a 120-click unidirectional bezel with a ceramic insert, and a high-contrast, pitch-black dial that absorbs up to 97% of ambient light, ensuring legibility even in the deepest and darkest conditions.
It contrasts sharply to the applied, bold Arabic numerals and markers and their luminescent glow in low-light conditions. The hours and minute hands feature similar coloring. A pair of sword-style hands sweep over the display for the hours and minutes, while the central second's hand stands out in bright orange. There's also a date indication between 4 and 5 o'clock.
But it’s above sea level where the 2025 model begins to chart new waters. A newly introduced interchangeable strap system allows for seamless, tool-free switching. The rubber strap integrates cleanly with the central lugs, creating a sleek and ergonomic fit, whether worn on a bare wrist or over a wetsuit. Blancpain also offers multiple strap lengths, accommodating both urban and aquatic settings.
New for this iteration are three rubber strap options: classic black, a vivid white, and a bold orange that echoes the orange central seconds hand and TECH signature on the dial. It’s a confident nod to color that demonstrates Blancpain’s ability to balance serious diving credentials with modern stylistic flair.
