The trend toward downsizing classic timepieces has been going strong for several years now. And it’s not just limited to dress watches—sport watches, known for their technical sophistication and rugged build, are also joining the miniaturization movement. A recent example comes from Bell & Ross: the new BR 05 36MM.

Originally launched in 2019 with a 40mm case, the BR 05 collection quickly became a favorite among fans of the brand, known for its aviation-inspired timepieces. With its sleek, contemporary design, the BR 05 embodies an urban chic aesthetic while still meeting the standards of a modern sport watch. It offers 100 meters of water resistance and excellent legibility thanks to Super-LumiNova-coated hands and markers for visibility in low light.

Its integrated metal bracelet and slim 8.5mm case height give the watch a refined, sporty elegance. The signature square case with four exposed screws and a round dial maintains the instantly recognizable BR 05 identity. However, scaling the design down to 36mm required more than just shrinking the dimensions—it meant reengineering the case to strike a balance between familiarity and freshness.

Legibility, always a top priority for Bell & Ross, remains front and center in the BR 05 36MM. The fine detailing includes bold numerals, applied indices, and hands all treated with bright white Super-LumiNova, which emits a green light in the dark. These elements not only enhance readability but also reinforce the distinct character of the collection.

The BR 05 36MM is available in a range of refined dial colors: black, gray, ice blue, and mother-of-pearl, all finished with a striking sunburst pattern. Inside the finely finished case—marked by alternating brushed and polished surfaces, just like the integrated bracelet—beats the new automatic BR-CAL.329 movement, delivering a power reserve of 54 hours.

Pricing is marked at $4,300.
