Approaching a Century of Watchmaking, Laco Introduces the Edition 98

With the unveiling of Edition 98, Laco maintains its stride towards the impending centennial celebration in 2025. Since 2020, Laco has been releasing annual special editions, each limited in production to reflect the company’s current age.

The Edition 98 stands out as a pilot’s chronograph with the popular bicompax layout on its black dial. Noteworthy is the design choice ensuring that the luminous sub-dials for chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock seamlessly coexist with indices and hour numerals, ensuring the crucial legibility associated with pilot’s watches.

A distinctive characteristic of this edition is the extensive use of luminous material. In low-light environments, such as nighttime or within the dim confines of an aircraft cockpit, not only do the essential time-telling displays radiate in the distinctive Superluminova green, but also the central stop-seconds hand and the two sub-dials.

The 43mm stainless steel chronograph features a knurled, tapered pilot’s watch crown embellished with a relief “98” and round pushers. Underneath its robust exterior, the timepiece houses the Sellita SW510BH automatic caliber, ensuring a power reserve of 56 hours. Pressure-resistant up to ten bars and enclosed between two sapphire crystals, this chronograph movement offers a nice finishing quality with blued screws, engravings and perlage.

The back ring displays the individual limitation number, engraved as a testament to the exclusivity of Edition 98, which is attached to a leather strap.

Pricing is for the Laco Edition 98 marked at approximately $3,200 when converted to USD, with a namesake 98 examples set for production.
