Deep Space: Luxury Watches with Meteorite Dials
Louis Moinet
The 40-mm Cosmopolis from Louis Moinet’s Jean-Marie Schaller (who has been “collecting exceptional meteorites for 20 years”) comes with an off-center tourbillon in the subdial at 6 o’clock. The movement is hand-wound, with two barrel springs providing an impressive 96 hours of power reserve. More importantly, the watch holds the record for “the most meteorite inserts in a watch.”
Rolex
The only GMT-Master II with a meteorite dial comes with a 40-mm white-gold case, and a two-color Cerachrom bezel insert in red and blue ceramic, and is powered by the brand’s own 3285 movement. $42,900.
Bulova
Part of its Archive Series, Bulova launches a new version of its chronograph watch that made it to the moon, in the exact size of 45.3 mm, and with an upgrade of a meteorite dial. Powered by the brand’s proprietary NP20 High Precision Quartz (HPQ) chronograph movement accurate to 1/20th second — it is limited to only 5,000 pieces worldwide and available for $1,495.
Frederique Constant
The year 2023 marked Frederique Constant’s 35th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of its own FC-980 Tourbillon caliber. For the occasion, the Maison unveiled a Classic Tourbillon Meteorite Manufacture in platinum (with 39-mm diameter), featuring a meteorite dial and limited to only 35 pieces. $44,995.
