Monochrome Monday: Introducing the Richard Mille RM 055 Bubba Watson All Grey Boutique Edition

A mechanical watch to be worn while practicing golf? Isn’t that something that everybody knows to be dangerous? Well, that would certainly be true in the case of most mechanical watches. However, when it comes to Richard Mille, we're not talking about the usual timepieces. As we’ve seen with two of the brand's pro-athlete ambassadors, Rafael Nadal and Bubba Watson, both of whom wear the RM watches while competing, these watches are engineered to resist almost everything — including Bubba’s mighty drive. The Richard Mille watch dedicated to him now comes in a new iteration: the Richard Mille RM 055 Bubba Watson All Grey Boutique Edition. Richard Mille Bubba Watson In 2014, Nadal won at Roland Garros with an ultra-light tourbillon on his wrist (the Richard Mille RM 27-01 to be precise, with a movement weighing 3.5 grams). In 2015, he did not win the tournament, but his watch, the RM 27-02 Tourbillon, was still impressive. Watson, one of the top five golfers in the world, also has his own Richard Mille, the RM 055 (a watch we reviewed in its classical white edition last year on our website, Monochrome Watches) – and as usual, this watch has been developed to be worn and tested in real conditions and not to be simply another showcase watch. To be sure, the sports-oriented Richard Mille watches are extremely resistant, and even if they come with delicate skeletonized movements or fragile tourbillon cages (at least we thought tourbillons had to be fragile), some can absorb up to 5000 G's and resist extreme shocks.
