The understated watchmaker Laurent Ferrier is set to showcase its latest creation, the Classic Moon Silver, at WatchTime New York 2024. Taking place from October 18 to 20 at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall, the event will feature over thirty-five leading watchmakers, with Laurent Ferrier presenting this sophisticated new addition to its lineup.

Like many of Laurent Ferrier’s timepieces, the Classic Moon Silver is another lesson in letting the work speak for itself. Housed in a sleek 40mm by 12.9mm red gold case, the case design maintains the brand’s signature round shape with its smooth, polished surfaces and elegantly elongated lugs. A thin bezel frames the dial in a way that emphasizes its clean aesthetic, while the tight integration of a vintage-inspired, onion-style crown adds to the overall minimalist approach.

Like the case, the dial of the new model is loud in its subtlety, allowing a historically inspired triple calendar aesthetic to work harmoniously with the watch’s 6 o’clock moonphase. A satin-finished silver provides the backdrop to each of these details, with printed details in red, black, and blue alongside a sharp use of beveling around the day and month indicators adding depth to the look. White gold Assegai shaped hands treated with ruthenium provide the running timekeeping, while a cherry red pointer works to tell the analog-style date.

Powering the Classic Moon Silver is Laurent Ferrier’s in-house caliber LF126.02. The hand-wound movement offers an 80-hour power reserve, and notably features clockwise and counter-clockwise correction for its calendar functions. Like previous calibers by the prestigious watchmakers, the movement is finished to the highest level, with each bridge adorned with Côtes de Genève decorations and rhodium treatment. The plate is embellished with beading while the edges and inner edges are chamfered and then polished by hand, just like the screw heads. The movement and its meticulous finishing are visible via an exhibition caseback.
