Right in time for the fall season, with its crisp air and golden foliage, Oris introduces its latest collaboration with Cervo Volante. Known for its handcrafted leather goods made from sustainable wild leather, the Swiss company has once again teamed up with Oris for a new edition of the Big Crown Pointer Date, an enduring icon in the brand’s portfolio that goes back to the 1930s.

Cervo Volante was founded in 2017 with the idea of repurposing the by-products of Switzerland’s annual deer cull, which manages the red deer population to protect the alpine countryside. While some 15,000 animals are culled each year, their skins had previously been discarded or burned. By transforming these into high-quality, long-lasting leathers, Cervo Volante has created a cycle of sustainability that aligns seamlessly with Oris’s own “Change for the Better” environmental motto.

As the previous editions, the latest Big Crown Pointer Date models features a 40mm stainless steel case and is powered by the Oris Caliber 754, based on a Sellita SW200-1. Paced at 4 Hz, the automatic movement offers an instantaneous pointer-date complication, a stop-seconds function and a 41-hour power reserve. It comes to life through the sapphire case back, with Oris's signature red rotor taking center stage.

The star of the show is the burnt maple gradient dial, offerering rich hues of orange and night-time readability thanks to Superluminova coating on the markers, hands and Arabic numerals. The cathedral-style hands and fluted bezel remain faithful to the vintage character of the Pointer Date, while the quick-change deer leather straps and matching leather pouch underscore the collaboration’s ethos. Pricing is marked at CHF2,250 or approximately $2,828 when converted to USD.
