"Business in the front, party in the back" is the motto of a certain type of dated and much-maligned hairstyle, but it could also apply to this week's Watch to Watch, the Graham 1695 Chronofighter Erotic, a limited edition that features the brand's classical chronograph dial under the crystal and intricate engravings of erotic art scenes on the caseback. The 42-mm case of the Graham 1695 Chronofighter Erotic series — five models featuring five different erotic scenes — is made of 925 silver, a watch-world rarity; there is also a series in 18k rose gold cases. The titillating illustrations on the casebacks are hand-engraved by local artisans in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, where Graham also makes its watches. The erotic scenes are taken from a variety of cultural sources: 18th century English literature; the Indian Kama Sutra; Japan's Ukiyo-e woodblock prints; and Chinese and Italian literature. Strategically placed in each of the casebacks is a round, sapphire aperture through which the owner can view the motion of the balance wheel.

While the watch will certainly be a conversation piece once it's removed from the wrist and its racy caseback embellishments are shown to friends and acquaintances, it is a Graham Chronofighter through-and-through, containing automatic chronograph Caliber G1745, operated by Graham's trademark trigger-shaped, fast-action stop-start lever on the side of the case. The domed, silver-colored dial features a snailed minutes counter at 6 o'clock and a date window at 3 o'clock. The rhodiated, diamond-tipped hands are coated with white Super-LumiNova; the central chronograph hand is slightly curved to accommodate the shape of the crystal, which has nonreflective treatment on both sides. The watches are water-resistant to 50 meters and carry a power reserve of 48 hours. Each edition of the Chronofighter 1695 Erotic — five each in silver and in rose gold — is limited to 25 pieces. Prices are $14,580 for the silver models and $28,750 for rose gold. All five erotic caseback illustrations are depicted in silver below; click on the photos to admire the artwork up close.
