IWC Schaffhausen pays tribute to the renowned Patrouille Suisse, the aerobatic team of the Swiss Air Force, with its new Pilot's Watch Mark XX Patrouille Suisse edition. Founded in 1964, the Patrouille Suisse showcases the skill, precision, and readiness of the Swiss Air Force both domestically and internationally. Their distinctive red-and-white F-5 E Tiger aircraft are piloted by members of the professional flight corps. Formation flying is a testament to human skill, requiring precision, timing, and technical perfection— qualities that have been intrinsic to IWC Schaffhausen since its founding in 1868, especially reflected in their legendary pilot’s watches. Among them is the Mark XX that first took to the skies 76 as Mark 11, developed for the British Royal Air Force it legendary Mark 11

Limited to 250 pieces, the Pilot's Watch Mark XX Patrouille Suisse is the fifth special edition IWC has created in honor of the Patrouille Suisse and the first to feature a lightweight titanium case with a sandblasted matte gray finish. Water-resistant to 100 meters, the case measures 40 millimeters in diameter and a slim 10.6 millimeters in height. Titanium, known for its high strength-to-density ratio, is extremely robust and weighs about a third less than steel.

The titanium case is complemented by a gray sunburst dial, which reflects the enduring and slightly evolved design of IWC’s pilot’s watches over the decades, with the latest update in 2022. The dial features luminescent Arabic numerals, the iconic pilot’s watch triangle, and broad hour and minute hands, ensuring intuitive readability from any angle and under all lighting conditions. A discreet date display is integrated at the 3 o’clock position. The front glass is specially secured to remain in place even in the event of a sudden pressure drop in the cockpit.

The automatic movement features a silicon escapement and a double pawl winding system, building up a five-day power reserve. It is safely housed behind a solid case back with a special engraving depicting three aircrafts in formation flight alongside the inscription “Tribute to Patrouille Suisse.”
