Hublot and Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, one of the most important cultural icons of our time, have joined together in a creative collaboration resulting in two stunning timepieces as part of the newly unveiled Shawn Carter Collection. The decision to collaborate was an obvious one – Carter’s relationship with the watchmaker has long been lauded through his frequent references to the brand in his lyrics and his admiration for the luxury watchmaker’s bold designs and masterful innovation. Brought to life through the artist’s pop up installation within Barney's, “A New York Holiday,” Mr. Carter chose Hublot to represent his iconic style through two custom timepieces from the luxury watchmaker’s Classic Fusion line.  The limited-edition collection will be available exclusively at Barneys New York and at select Hublot boutiques worldwide beginning November 20th.  Following the holiday installation, the timepieces will live on as part of the newly minted Collection. The Shawn Carter by Hublot 45-mm timepieces come in an 18k yellow gold and a black ceramic version, both on black alligator straps.  The starburst emblem on the dial is the official logo of the Shawn Carter collection. On Sunday, October 20th, Hublot’s CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe, and Mr. Carter unveiled the pieces at a private lunch in Zurich. Mr. Carter debuted the 18k yellow-gold timepiece later that night at his local performance on the “Magna Carta Holy Grail” tour. Twenty-five percent of all sales from the collaboration will benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, the Foundation is a New York-based charity, which awards post-secondary scholarships to students facing socioeconomic hardships.
