At WatchTime New York last year, H. Moser & Cie. became one of the talks of the show when one of the VIP panelists, Kevin O’Leary, took a major interest in the brand. This year, the watchmaker will once again be showcasing at the event, now planning to bring some newly launched heat in the Streamliner Concept Minute Repeater Tourbillon Blue Enamel (tickets available, here). Joining the brand’s Streamliner collection, the new watch takes the original design scheme of the series and adds to it a namesake minute repeater mechanism and tourbillon, presented as a highly wearable execution of the “queen of complications.”

The new watch is housed in a 42.3mm stainless steel case with a slightly domed sapphire crystal. The case, in context with its crystal and integrated bracelet, reflects the Streamliner collection’s distinctive fluid lines and ergonomic construction, recalling the sleek automotive and locomotive designs of the 1920s which carry the same name. More than bold looks alone, the watch is also water resistant to 50 meters, making it one of very few timepieces that host the complication that can sustain any amount of extended exposure to water.

Following the boldness of the case, the dial is as much, if not more, of a fascination. Featuring an aqua blue colorway, the display is produced from a gold base which is then adorned with a hammered pattern. To this, the watchmaker applies the Grand Feu enamelingtechnique, first applying four different color pigments to produce an ombré effect, with these pigments being fired and meticulously re-applied twelve times to create the signature H. Moser & Cie. fumé effect. Signature-style hands of the collection are used for the hour and minute hands, with each featuring inserts made from Globolight, a ceramic-based material which contains Super-LumiNova.

As one might expect, the tourbillon and minute repeater are both visible on the dial side. Powering them both is the H. Moser & Cie. HMC 905 calibre. Hand-wound, the partially openwork movement offers an impressive 90-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 21,600 vph. The minute repeater mechanism, visible on the dial side, chimes the hours, quarter-hours, and minutes with a warm, clear resonance, thanks to the carefully optimized case design, the middle of which serves as a soundbox.
