Sponsored: Bulova Expands Frank Sinatra Collection With New Summer Wind

Paying homage to the legacy of Frank Sinatra, Bulova this year introduced the vintage-inspired Summer Wind as the latest addition to the brand’s Sinatra-tribute collection. Each watch in the namesake collection references Sinatra’s music and other elements of his renowned persona, working to channel the cool elegance of Ol’ Blue Eyes himself by sharing a name with one of the singer’s songs and incorporating his aesthetic into the classic Bulova design code. In the Frank Sinatra Summer Wind, we find a handsome time-and-date watch presented in either silver or rose-gold tone, the model and its special charm “blowing in from across the sea.”

On the exterior of the Summer Wind, the watch sports a 40mm steel case with a refined silhouette that is characteristic of the Frank Sinatra collection, stylized via a pair of rounded head and scooped lugs alongside a tight-fitting, fedora-signed, and slightly domed crown. The reverse of the watch features an exhibition caseback with applied black lettering reading “Sinatra Collection, Summer Wind” along with the Bulova logo and a graphic of Sinatra’s famous fedora.

A classic, vintage elegance is the theme of the dial, with the display featuring either a matte black or gray backdrop. To complement the tone of the case, the hands, indices, and the frame around the 3 o’clock date window all feature either a rose-gold or silver colorway, providing a sense of consistency throughout the aesthetic of the Summer Wind. At the 12 o’clock position, the hour index takes the shape of Sinatra’s fedora, while the other markers opt for a historically-influenced faceted style. Further incorporating elements of the singer’s influence, the dial is accented with touches of orange; Sinatra once proclaimed that “orange is the happiest color,” and as such the color helps add a touch of liveliness to the otherwise monochromatic design.

Powering the hands of the Summer Wind, Bulova opts for the caliber 8215 self-winding, a 21-jewel automatic movement. The mechanism offers a 42-hour power reserve and includes a calendar function along with its basic time functionality. The movement is visible via a sapphire exhibition caseback, with the workhorse movement inside the watch on fascinating display.

Equipped to the wrist on either a black or gray textured leather strap with the Summer Wind song title stamped along its interior, a double-press deployant buckle secures the watch’s place. Available now via the brand’s website and authorized retailers globally, the Bulova Frank Sinatra Summer Wind silver tone edition is priced at $795, while the rose-gold tone iteration is marked at $850.
