Since its debut in 2018, the Casio G-SHOCK Full Metal lineup has become a fan favorite. This month, the brand is back with its newest addition to the catalog, the G-SHOCK Full Metal GMB2100-1A. The latest release takes the brand's popular octagonal form and elevates it with a full metal construction, in-turn representing a genuine evolution of classic G-SHOCK DNA.

The GMB2100D-1A is the Silver edition of the GMB2100 base design, featuring a now classic Full Metal look which has helped define the series since its debut. Featuring a steel case and a matching integrated steel bracelet, the shape and style of the model derives from the 2019-introduced GA2100, itself an octagonal evolution of classic G-SHOCK silhouettes.

In-line with all previous Full Metal editions, the case of the GMB2100D-1A eschews any external resin elements, with the complete steel construction of the watch highlighting its distinction. The steel makes use of a three-step surface-finishing technique, which results in a distinct, three-dimensional appearance on the case and bezel. Notably, the top surfaces of the watch have a circular hair-line finish, while the side surfaces have a vertical hair-line finish, and the main section of the bezel is finished with a mirror-like appearance. The multifaceted result is further complemented by sharp detailing on the index and inner dial, with this achieved by the brand via a vapor deposition treatment.

While as luxurious in quality and finishing as previous Full Metal editions, this latest G-SHOCK does wear slightly slimmer on the wrist compared to its predecessors, measuring 12.8mm in height, which is excellently proportional in context to its 44.4mm diameter and 49.8mm length. Featuring the same general style as the GA2100 before it, the dial of the GMB2100D-1A is equally as smartly proportioned on its dial, with the display featuring a fusion of analog and digital components. Specifically, the dial includes a multi-functional digital window spanning from 3 o’clock to 6 o’clock, and a function-indicating subdial at 9 o’clock, these in addition to a central pair of analog hour and minute hands.

Powering the GMB2100D-1A is the Module 5691 quartz. The watch utilizes Tough Solar Technology that allows the watch to convert power from even the weakest light sources and also offers a power-saving mode. Like other elevated G-SHOCKS, the new watch is also embedded Bluetooth capabilities with built-in Smartphone Link functions via the G-SHOCK Connected app, permitting the watches to connect to a smartphone for automatic time updates, simple watch setting, timestamp with location, calendar reminders, and a unique phone finder function.

All three versions of the Full Metal watch come equipped with G-SHOCK technology, including features like a 24-hour stopwatch, a 60-minute countdown timer, a hand shift feature, date/month display swapping, and a multilingual day of the week display. The watch is shock-resistant and water-resistant up to 200M.
