Frederique Constant has for 14 years partnered with Austin-Healey automobiles and sponsored vintage car rallies worldwide. Each year, the Geneva-based brand has launched a special Vintage Rally timepiece for collectors. The latest was unveiled this week, at the Couture watch and jewelry show in Las Vegas.
The new Frederique Constant Vintage Rally Healey Chronograph for 2018 — produced, as have previous versions, in collaboration with the European Healey Club, for which the watchmaker serves as official Gold Sponsor — is offered in three executions, all in 42-mm stainless steel cases (one with rose-gold plating) and equipped with automatic chronograph movements. The dial options are green with white chrono counters, silver with gray counters, and navy blue with white counters.
The bicompax dials feature luminous-treated hands, indices, and Arabic numerals, have a 30-minute chronograph subdial at 3 o’clock, a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, and a vintage Healey logo above the 6 o’clock numeral. On display through a transparent sapphire caseback is Frederique Constant’s self-winding (presumably ETA-based) Caliber FC-397, with 25 jewels, a 28,800-vph frequency, and a 46-hour power reserve. The leather straps are perforated in the style of driving gloves, adding to the timepiece’s vintage appeal.
Continuing the tradition of Frederique Constant’s Healey editions, each of the watches is a limited edition (2,888 pieces) and comes in a specially designed gift box with a miniature model of a Healey NOJ393 automobile.Prices range from $2,795 (for the steel-cased models with green or silver dials) to $3,095 (for the rose-gold-plated version with blue dial).
