TAG Heuer Tees Off With Third-Generation Connected Golf Edition Watch

As the world begins to slowly emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, reopening golf courses beckon for many, offering a socially distanced day of exercise and some much-needed outdoor time. And this week, TAG Heuer has launched the ideal wristwatch for a day on the links, the third-generation model in its Connected Golf series, chock-full of new features.

Following up the third-generation Connected model that launched back in March 2020, the new Golf Edition packs all that watch’s functionalities plus an array of golf-specific capabilities powered by TAG Heuer’s own Golf app. Designed in house, the app offers access to easy-to-read 3D course mapping, distances to greens and hazards, shot tracking, scorecards for up to four players, updated stats, and the new “Driving Zone” feature, which shows players the best zones to target based on previous rounds. These are in addition to the TAG Heuer Sport App, which supports other activities such as running, cycling, and fitness, plus the range of capabilities from the Wear OS by Google ecosystem.

The watch’s 45-mm blackened titanium case features a black ceramic bezel with a scale of 18 engraved graduations corresponding to each hole from a round of golf. The two green lacquer-accented pushers that flank the crown can be used within the Golf app to record shots and distances, in addition to other uses within other apps. The white rubber strap, with green stitching, bears a texture that resembles the dimpled surface of a golf ball. An additional black perforated rubber strap can be easily switched out, via TAG Heuer’s quick-change system, for a more formal look.

The dial’s OLED touchscreen dial, under a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, now has five additional custom-designed always-on faces with green color highlights that echo the strap colors. The dial alternates between active and ambient mode to extend the all-day battery life, but always displays the time. The Connected Watch Golf Edition comes with a magnetic battery charger and a dedicated travel pouch, all in an accessory box with four tees, a divot tool, and three golf balls, all TAG Heuer-branded, plus the additional rubber strap.

The TAG Heuer Connected Golf Edition is available at retail as of June 4, 2020 at select retailers and at TAG Heuer’s website, priced at $2,550. For more on the TAG Heuer Connected Watches’ third-generation capabilities, click here.
