Showing at WatchTime New York 2021: Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar Red Gold Green Dial

WatchTime New York 2021 is less than two months away, returning for the sixth time to Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 22-24. Prestigious German watchmaker Glashütte Original is one of more than 25 participating watch brands set to showcase its latest timepieces there, including the new PanoMaticLunar in rose gold with a lush green dial, which was launched in the spring of this year.

The original Pano watches arrived to market around the turn of the millennium, so named for their signature “panorama date” style, and have since become one of Glashütte Original’s most significant and expansive design families. The PanoMaticLunar is one of the most prominent members of the family, notable for its asymmetrical moon-phase dial. This year, the brand has updated the popular design, elevating its style with a luxurious rose-gold case and a trendy, deep green dial luxuriously contrasting with it.

The new watch’s 40-mm, precious-metal case serves as a distinctive canvas, with its meticulous polishing and clean circular style. While beautifully finished and featuring an attractive weightiness thanks to its gold construction, the case is the most traditional element of the timepiece. Meanwhile, its unusual asymmetric dial quickly pulls you in with its eye-catching color and unconventional configuration.

Each dial detail draws the eye closer to the craftsmanship, making you aware of the time and energy spent creating the face of this masterful timepiece. The color gradient on the hand-crafted dial is particularly engaging — from an intense dark green in the center to black at the edges. Glashütte Original has become well known for its colorful gradient dials and this one is further evidence as to why: boldness and beauty abounds in even its most subtle details.

On the dial’s varnished, dégradé surface, a doubled subdial showcases the running hours, minutes, and seconds, while the watch’s namesake moon-phase and pano date provide both charm and functionality. Inside the watch is the Glashütte Original manufacture Caliber 90-02, an automatic movement beating at 28,800 vph and storing a 42-hour power reserve. The mechanism, like the rest of the watch, is finely executed and finished, complete with a three-quarter mainplate with Glashütte stripes, an off-center rotor with 21k gold oscillating weight, and the brand’s signature duplex-swan-neck fine adjustment.

The distinctive and luxurious Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar Red Gold Green Dial is available now, priced at $20,500 with a gold folding fastener and $18,700 with a gold clasp.
