Showing at WatchTime New York 2021: MeisterSinger Bell Hora

Germany’s MeisterSinger has built its iconoclastic collections primarily around a single-hand timekeeping display and has gained additional renown by applying this style to unorthodox yet relatively affordable everyday timepieces. This weekend, the brand will be showcasing many of these intriguing timepieces at WatchTime New York 2021, which starts tomorrow at Gotham Hall in NYC (tickets for the Saturday and Sunday sessions are still available here). One of the brand’s clear highlight pieces will be the latest model of its cleverly designed Bell Hora.

The single-handed timepiece features an uncommon “Sonnerie au passage” function that produces a friendly chime at the top of each hour. The complication takes its inspiration from traditional clock towers, yet where clock towers count each of the passing hours and rings them out, the Bell Hora chimes just once, making the wearer aware of the passage of time without being overly distracting or loud. Importantly, the new watch helps celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Meistersinger brand in a seriously charming way, demonstrating the watchmaker is once again living up to its reputation in presenting its latest timepiece.

The Bell Hora’s 43-mm steel case has a primarily polished finish and features a relatively large crown with a chime-activation button above it, and a pair of sharp lugs connecting the watch to the wrist by means of a leather strap or steel bracelet.

The sapphire crystal offers a view of the dial, whose two options include a sunray blue with white accents or a trendy light salmon with black accents; both colorways feature a slightly textured pattern unique to the Bell Hora design. Along the outer edge is a prominent minute ring, marked at each hour with two sets of numerals, the traditional “01” to “12” for morning to afternoon as well as “13” to “24” for afternoon-evening.

As in other MeisterSinger watches, the dial is otherwise rather simple, featuring a small brand logo, some text specific to the model, including a small bell logo, and an elongated hand steadily passing over it all, thus staying true to the signature timekeeping style of the brand. The hand is driven by Caliber MS Bell, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW 200 and holding a 38-hour power reserve. While the watch will chime at the top of each hour, this function can able to be disabled via the button on the case, a useful feature when the wearer wants to be undistracted, most importantly while sleeping.

The MeisterSinger Bell Hora is available now via select authorized dealers, with pricing starting at 3,490 euros or about $4,060. To learn more, you can visit the brand here.
