Showing at WatchTime New York 2018: Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback

America’s largest luxury watch show, WatchTime New York, returns to Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 26-27 (click here for event details and to purchase tickets). Once again, longtime event partner Carl F. Bucherer will be among the exhibiting watch brands, showcasing, among other new timepieces, the new, retro-look version of its Manero Chronograph Flyback.

The watch’s stainless steel case is 43 mm in diameter and its dial is covered by a highly, domed nonreflective sapphire crystal. On this new model, which the brand says is inspired by Carl F. Bucherer watches from the 1960s and ’70s, said dial is black, with silver-colored subdials at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock (for chronograph minutes and running seconds, respectively), and punctuated by red accents in the tachymeter scale on the dial’s outer flange and on the central seconds hand. The applied, faceted hour indices and lance-shaped hour and minute hands are in materials that match the case, and the date appears in a framed window at 6 o’clock.

Inside the case, and visible beneath a clear sapphire caseback, is Carl F. Bucherer’s automatic Caliber CFB 1970, which powers all of the watch’s timekeeping operations, including its flyback chronograph function. Driven by a control wheel, and operated by two mushroom-style pushers flanking the grooved crown, the chronograph is capable of making multiple time measurements in quick succession, since both chronograph hands — the center-mounted seconds counter and the small counter of the elapsed-minutes subdial — can be reset to zero while the stopwatch is still running. The movement has 25 jewels and stores a 42-hour power reserve when fully wound.

The watch comes on a distressed kudu leather strap.

Completing the vintage-style look of this Manero Flyback is the weathered-look, golden brown perforated strap made of kudu leather and sporting a suede finish, which attaches to the wrist with a steel folding buckle.
