Another brand announcement that hit WatchTime’s editorial desks while we editors were on the ground at Baselworld comes from Richard Mille, The haute horlogerie brand (and, for one more time in 2019, SIHH participant) took its pioneering approach to new materials to a new level with an all-new bracelet made of Carbon TPT, which it introduced to watchmaking in 2013 and has heretofore used only in cases.
Richard Mille, which has previously made bracelets only in gold, and only for its ladies’ models, introduces its new bracelet on another feminine timepiece, the RM 07-01 with a tonneau-shaped Carbon TPT case. The bracelet’s impressively complex architecture combines a skeleton made of grade 5 titanium with dozens of carbon TPT plates secured by Richard Mille’s emblematic spline screws. Consisting of 200 total parts, the new bracelet is engineered to marry, in the brand’s words, “suppleness with extreme rigidity” for the wrist while also providing a smooth visual flow from the barrel-shaped case to the bracelet. Its total weight is a mere 29 grams.
