Watch Insider: 4 New IWC Watches Debut at “Watches and Wonders” in Hong Kong

Inspired by the picturesque harbor town of Portofino, a symbol of the dolce vita of the 1960s, Portofino watches from IWC are designed to evoke both extravagance and elegance. IWC unveiled both a rose gold (Ref. IW516102) and white-gold (Ref. IW516101) version of the Portofino Hand-Wound Big Date at Watches and Wonders. The Portofino Hand-Wound Big Date comes in a modest-looking case packed with sophisticated watchmaking. Apart from the big date display at 12 o’clock, with its large, highly legible numerals, this IWC watch also has an eight-day power reserve when fully wound. The see-through sapphire caseback provides an unimpeded view of the technically advanced IWC-manufactured 59230 movement, with its large bridges and plates and a contemporary, robust design. These watches also come with Santoni leather straps.

In much the same way that the picturesque harbour town of Portofino stands for the dolce vita of the 1960s, Portofino watches from IWC are the epitome of aesthetic extravagance with simple elegance. Featuring two different models, one in red gold (pictured here Ref. IW516102), the other in white gold (Ref. IW516101), the Portofino Hand-Wound Big Date is a stylish expression of discreet luxury.
