Hublot and Watches of Switzerland Group Team Up for Classic Fusion Aerofusion Special Edition

Hublot first teamed with UK-based watch retailer The Watches of Switzerland Group on an exclusive, special edition of its Classic Fusion timepiece in 2018. This week, the second collaboration between those partners made its debut, this one designed in Hublot’s skeletonized “Aerofusion” style.

The Classic Fusion Aerofusion Chronograph “Watches of Switzerland Group” Special Edition has a 45-mm case made of satin-finished and polished black ceramic, which features a porthole-shaped bezel punctuated by six specialized H-shaped screws (“Hublot” is french for “porthole”). The clear sapphire dial has polished, rhodium-plated hour appliqués and hands, along with subdials at 9 and 3 o’clock. Red details on the subdials, minute track, and central chronograph seconds hand distinguish this timepiece’s exclusive status. Displayed beneath that clear dial is the movement, Hublot’s automatic, skeletonized HUB1155 caliber, which beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), stores a 42-hour power reserve, and drives a date display at 6 o’clock along with the chronograph function. The movement does its duty behind a polished black ceramic caseback, engraved with ‘SPECIAL EDITION.”

The openworked dial’s red details are echoed on the stitching of the black alligator leather strap, which fastens the watch to the wrist with a deployant clasp in black PVD-treated steel. Priced at $17,700 (14,600 GBP in the United Kingdom), the Classic Fusion Aerofusion is limited to 100 pieces overall, with 25 of them slated for the United States, the rest for Britain. They’ll be available in selected showrooms of Watches of Switzerland and other Group members Goldsmith’s and Mappin & Webb in the U.K., and in select Watches of Switzerland showrooms in the U.S.

28,800 vibrations per hour, equals 480 per minute, and 8 per second, which is always 8Hz.
