Back in April, during Watches & Wonders, TAG Heuer announced the latest revamp of its well-established Aquaracer family of dive watches. The re-engineered Aquaracer Professional 300 kicked off with eight models, all featuring redesigned bezels with ceramic inserts, slimmer profiles, and several other upgrades. Now TAG Heuer expands the collection to 11 total references with the launch of three additional Aquaracer Professional 300 watches, led by the newest version of a 1980s classic, nicknamed “Night Diver.”
Launched alongside two other monochromatic models with the same case dimensions and dial elements — one in all-black, the other in all-blue — the Night Diver stands out with its 43-mm steel case, 12-sided rotating bezel, engraved solid caseback, and adjustable clasp all coated in matte black DLC (diamond-like carbon) and by its fully luminescent dial, bathed in green Super-LumiNova for a striking glow in dark conditions such as a diver would encounter deep underwater. On the Night Diver, the minutes and seconds hands and the triangle at 12 o’clock on the bezel are filled with blue Super-LumiNova to contrast with the dial, while the hour hand and markers at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock on the dial are filled with green luminous material. Further contrast is achieved with the use of black lacquer on the edging of the remaining hour markers.
Like its 2021 predecessors and its newly launched siblings, the Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver sports the hallmark 12-sided dive-scale bezel which rotates in one direction and has faceted sides for an easy grip. Its scratch-resistant sapphire crystal has a magnifying lens integrated into its underside to spotlight the date display on the dial at 6 o’clock. The dial itself hosts a pattern of horizontal lines, set slightly further apart from each other than on previous Aquaracer models for a more “elegant, sophisticated” look, along with sword hands and octagonal hour markers. The crown screws down securely into its protectors to ensure a water-resistance of 300 meters.
The image of a scaphander diver’s helmet, another hallmark of the Aquaracer collection, is stamped onto the 12-sided faceplate of the solid caseback. Beating behind that caseback is TAG Heuer’s automatic Caliber 5, with a 28,800-vph frequency, a rapid date-correction function, and a power reserve of 38 hours. All three new models including the Night Diver are mounted on integrated rubber straps whose clasps are equipped with a fine-tuning adjustment system and double safety push-buttons to prevent accidental unlocking. TAG Heuer says that the straps will be cut to the wearer’s preferred length at any TAG Heuer boutique or authorized retailer.
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 “Night Diver” is available now, at a retail price of $3,350. The black and blue models (pictured below) are available as of August 2021 and priced at $2,700.
