By Land, By Sea, and By Air: Three New Breitling Watches

Breitling has launched a trio of new luxury sports watches — one each in its Breitling for Bentley, Superocean, and Chronoliner collections —all suited for adventure, whether you’re on the road, under the waves, or in the air.

By land:
The Breitling for Bentley B06 Midnight Carbon is the latest chronograph watch to feature the brand’s in-house Caliber B06 movement, with the “30-second chronograph” system that Breitling patented in 1926. When the stopwatch is engaged, the central hand sweeps around the dial in half a minute, ensuring extremely precise 1/8-second readings of elapsed times. The watch also features Breitling’s “variable tachymeter” scale (similar to the “circular slide rule” on its pilots’ watches), operated by the rotating bezel. Used in conjunction with the chronograph, it can calculate average speeds whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered, or the speed reached, as opposed to standard tachymeter scales that can calculate speeds based only on a 60-second interval. This new version of the watch, limited to 500 pieces, has a 49-mm satin-brushed steel case coated with a high-resistance black carbon-based treatment. Along with the collection’s hallmark knurled bezel, the watch is also outfitted with a black mother-of-pearl dial with matte chrono subdials and red and white indicators. The COSC-certified movement, with its sculpted wheel-rim-shaped winding rotor, is visible through a clear caseback. Breitling is offering the watch on a Bentley-branded black rubber strap, or a crocodile leather strap with rubber lining. Price: $12,515.

By sea:
Breitling refers to the new Breitling Superocean 44 Special as its “ocean pilot,” as it is marries much of the brand’s classic aviation-watch DNA with the properties of a professional-grade diving watch. This version sports a 44-mm black steel case, black ceramic bezel, and “volcano black” dial with extra-large luminescent markers for visibility deep underwater. It’s fitted with a twin-gasket screw-locked crown, which helps guarantee the watch’s water-resistance to a depth of 1,000 meters (3,300 feet), and a unidirectional, ratcheted rotating bezel that is easy to grip while wearing diving gloves. The dial has large, baton-shaped hour and minute hands and a red-tipped seconds hand with a small luminescent triangle, another visual aid for a diver to check at a glance that his watch is running. The date appears in a window at 3 o’clock. The movement is Breitling’s automatic Caliber 17, a COSC-certified chronometer with 25 jewels and a high frequency of 28,800 vph. The watch comes on either an “Ocean Racer” or “Diver Pro” strap in black rubber and is priced at $4,980.

By air:
The Breitling Chronoliner Limited Series, distinguished by an 18k rose-gold case and scratch-resistant ceramic bezel, is the latest addition to the Chronoliner collection of “flight captain’s watches” introduced by Breitling at Baselworld 2015. It combines two pilot-friendly functions, a 1/4-second chronograph for measuring flight times and a triple timezone display to keep track of the times in various time zones whilst in flight. The second time zone is indicated by a red-tipped hand on a 24-hour scale around the black dial, while a third time zone, also in 24-hour mode, can be read on the bidirectional rotating bezel. The chronograph counters are at 12 and 6 o’clock, small seconds are at 9 o’clock, and the date is at 3 o’clock. The case measures 46 mm in diameter, resists water pressure down to 100 meters, and features on its back side an engraved image of stylized airplanes. The watch, which is limited to 250 pieces at $29,920, contains the chronometer-certified Breitling Caliber 24 and comes on a specialized black rubber strap that evokes the mesh design of Breitling’s steel Aero Classic bracelet.

I hope the material that’s used in the manufacture of breitling watches is as same quite as the original or a little bit close to the original

Not sure if I posted this comment previously, if so, please pardon me.
The Superocean and the Chrono Liner are both attractive watches, especially the Chrono in rose gold, it’s a beauty; however, all three are just too big for my 7.5″ wrist. I love my 42mm Planet Ocean, aesthetically my favorite among all the divers out there, but that’s as big a case as I like anymore. And the Bentley B06 compounds absurd size with an illegible dial. And a great review.

The Chronoliner and SuperOcean are terrific looking watches, the Chronoliner a striking piece in rose gold. However, all three are just too large for me; at 7.25″ wrists, I’m feeling 40mm looks best on me. My 42mm Planet Ocean remains the exception, as it is a long time favorite. And the Bentley B06 is garish and illegible
