B.R.M Chronographes Teams With Montecristo Cigars on Limited-Edition Watch & Humidor

Since its founding in 2003 by French watchmaker and designer Bernard Richards, B.R.M (Bernard Richards Manufacture) has forged numerous partnerships in the world of motorsports and its highly automotive-influenced and customizable timepieces have made their way to the wrists of many racing drivers as well as other enthusiasts. For its latest collaboration, however, B.R.M looked beyond the racetrack to the world of premium cigar making, teaming with the famed, historic Montecristo brand to produce the exclusive, highly limited Montecristo BRM Humidor.

With only 32 pieces being made, the cabinets include the luxurious ensemble of a custom-made B.R.M watch; an automatic winder built right into the box; and an assortment of 40 Montecristo “B.R.M Edition” cigars, blended specially by the Plasencias, a multi-generational family of tobacco growers and cigar manufacturers originally from Cuba. The watch bears the hallmark “B.R.M Chronographes” aesthetic, with a 44-mm stainless steel case, a Swiss-made automatic ETA caliber, modified in-house at the B.R.M atelier in France, and a skeletonized dial with the brand’s emblematic engine- and dashboard-inspired details. On this model, the 8 o’clock position is designated by a fleur-de-lis, both a symbol of Richards’ native France and an emblem of the historic Montecristo cigar brand since it was founded in Cuba in 1935. The racing-style rubber strap, another mainstay of B.R.M Chronographes, is executed in Montecristo’s yellow-and-red color scheme.

The cigars, with both the classical Montecristo band and an additional band with B.R.M’s logo and checkered-flag motif, are all in the popular 6 x 52 “toro” size and represent a proprietary, full-bodied blend with tobacco from all four of Nicaragua’s four top growing regions: an extra-aged wrapper from Jalapa, binder from Ometepe, and filler from Condega and Esteli. The original Montecristo cigar took its name from the classic Alexandre Dumas novel, The Count of Monte Cristo, which made it an ideal product to carry the B.R.M branding, according to B.R.M Americas president Frederic Gasser. “Montecristo was already associated with a great French writer, Alexandre Dumas,” Gasser stated. “It’s a great privilege to add a French name to that legendary cigar.”

All 32 of the B.R.M Montecristo Humidor sets, with the watch, 40 custom-made cigars, and built-in winder, are individually numbered and priced at $11,000.
