Deeply rooted in marine chronometry history, the Marine Torpilleur watch family, first launched in 2017, is a magnificent example of Ulysse Nardin’s DNA. The collection is distinguished by beautiful and wide dials, legible Roman numerals, a railway-minute track, and, of course, manufacture calibers that are reliable and precise. This year, it welcomes a new member that includes a large date aperture and the indication of a second time zone.
The Marine Torpilleur Dual Time Zone uses a mechanism invented by the famous Ludwig Oechslin in 1994. It relies on the practical GMT± function, with two pushers to quickly correct the local time, while the reference time aperture at 9 o’clock continually displays the home time. Ten years later in 2004, Ulysse Nardin introduced the UN-334, its first manufacture caliber fitted with this GMT± function. This movement powers the debutante and is housed in a 44mm stainless steel case with the line’s signature fluted bezel. It stores 48 hours of power reserve and boasts the manufacture’s “silicium technology,” with the escapement wheel, anchor, and balance spring crafted from the non-magnetic, elastic, and durable material.
