GPHG 2019:

The Shortlisted Watches in This Year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève


Today, the 2019 edition of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has announced the shortlisted (pre-selected) watches that will be competing for an award in one of the 14 categories (as well as for the “Aiguille d’Or” award, which recognizes the overall best watch among all the entrants):

Top 5 Brands

The five participating brands with the most shortlists are (in alphabetical order) Audemars Piguet (4), Bulgari (5), Hermès (4), Ulysse Nardin (4), Zenith (5).

Ceremony and World Tour

The award ceremony will be held at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva on November 7, 2019. Before that, the 84 pre-selected watches will go on a world tour, starting in Asia in with The Hour Glass, which will host the GPHG selection in Sydney (September 27-29) and in Bangkok (October 3-5). The watches will then be on display in Mexico City during the Salón Internacional Alta Relojería (October 15-17) and later in Puebla for a public exhibition at the Museo Internacional del Barroco (October 18-20), followed by a presentation at Torres Joyas (October 22-23). Back in Geneva, the 84 timepieces will be on display in the palatine rooms of the city’s largest museum, the Musée d’art et d’histoire (November 1-14). Visitors will also be able to see some of the museum’s own watch, enamel, jewelry and miniature collections. After the award ceremony on November 7, the tour will conclude in Dubai, where the GPHG winning watches will be presented at the 4th Dubai Watch Week (November 20-24).
