Twenty Years, 22 Movements: Parmigiani Fleurier to Host Anniversary Exhibit at Miami Boutique

Starting this November, Parmigiani Fleurier will offer visitors to its Miami Design District boutique a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of its most historic timepieces, hosting a 20th-anniversary exhibit that highlights the independent brand’s watchmaking milestones over two decades.

The exhibition opens to the public starting November 17 and will showcase, in chronological order, 22 of the most important in-house movements created by master watchmaker Michel Parmigiani since he founded his eponymous brand in 1996. Parmigiani Fleurier is now a vertically integrated manufacture that has produced 33 in-house movements, several of them world firsts, during the course of its 20-year history as an independent brand.

Curated to each illustrate a different aspect of the Parmigiani brand’s expertise, the timepieces on display will include the Tonda Chronor Anniversaire, unveiled at SIHH 2016, which features Parmigiani’s first integrated chronograph caliber; the groundbreaking Bugatti Type 370, with its engine block-inspired “transverse tubular” movement; and the Ovale Pantographe, with its unconventional retractable hands whose design is based on those of a 19th-century pocketwatch restored in Parmigiani’s workshop.
