Rolex Introduces the Day-Date 40, Now in Platinum with a Fluted Bezel

As Rolex enthusiasts are aware, even small adaptions make for big news in the brand’s universe. This year, Rolex’s elegant Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 is presented in a stunning new 950 platinum version with a fluted bezel.

Until now, platinum executions of this model equipped with the nickname “president’s watch” sported only smooth bezels because, according to Rolex, it is quite a challenge to produce the geometric facets from this hard material. Well, as the new Day-Date demonstrates, Rolex managed this task in-line with its esteemed manufacturing standards after several years of research and development.

The 950 platinum bezel pairs beautifully with the ice-blue dial and the faceted, deconstructed Roman numerals and faceted hour markers in 18 kt white gold. As is de rigueur for the Day-Date since its debut in 1956, the dial provides the indication of the weekday and date.

The new version of the Day-Date 40 is equipped with the self-winding caliber 3255, which is covered by the Superlative Chronometer certification and provides a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

The watch which is also available with a diameter of 36mm is fitted with a new 950 platinum President bracelet. This bracelet includes an elegant concealed folding Crownclasp and ceramic inserts inside the links to enhance its flexibility and longevity. In addition, a concealed attachment system ensures seamless visual continuity between the bracelet and case. Public pricing has yet to be announced and will be available upon request.

A most beautiful watch of course. But even Rolex must be too embarrassed to post the price.
