Richard Mille RM 07-04 Automatic Sport: The Athletes Watch

The approach of Richard Mille when it comes to sports watches has always been an interesting one. Instead of aiming at its clients, they develop their watches for professional athletes. The most exciting part of this is that most of them don’t need to wear a timepiece when they want to break records and win but decide to do so anyway. In fact, for the new RM 07-04, Richard Mille worked with six professional athletes (Aurora Straus, Margot Laffite, Nelly Korda, Nafi Thiam, Yuliya Levchenko, and Ester Ledecká) to define the ultimate women’s sports watch.

The RM 07-04 Automatic Sport is breaking the mold yet, at the same time, a typical Richard Mille. Thanks to the use of titanium for the movement and Quartz TPT® and Carbon TPT® for the case, the overall weight of the watch is a mere 36 grams, strap included. This is by itself an incredible accomplishment, but even more so when you realize that this mechanical watch can withstand forces up to 5,000G.

It took Richard Mille three years to develop the RM 07-04. This was also because they wanted a timepiece with compact dimensions. To achieve this, much research and development had to be carried out to get the required result. The RM 07-04 is fitted with caliber CRMA8, featuring skeletonized bridges and a technical yet refined finish of each component. A pusher at four o’clock allows you to select one of the three settings; neutral (N), winding (W) or time setting (H).

Richard Mille is offering the RM 07-04 in six different versions, each with its own bold combination of colors. One features a case in black Carbon TPT®, while the five Quartz TPT® models are available in creamy white, mauve, salmon, green and dark blue. While Richard Mille is quite adamant in calling the RM 07-04 a women’s sports watch, the fact of the matter is that it has an appeal that goes beyond genders, in particular as smaller (sport)watches are en vogue again.

The Richard Mille RM 07-04 is priced at $185,000.
