Mühle-Glashütte Expands Teutonia IV Collection with Four New Models

Heritage German watchmaker Mühle-Glashütte has expanded its dressy Teutonia IV collection — which debuted as an extension of the existing Teutonia family in 2019, with the launch of the Teutonia IV Moonphase — with four new models. The new timepieces continue that design evolution, complete with the IV’s clean, straightforward dial, beveled case edges, and volute-shaped lugs. They include a chronograph, a small-seconds time-only model, and two new smaller models geared toward the women’s market.

Teutonia IV Chronograph

Leading the group is the Teutonia IV Chronograph, notable within Mühle-Glashütte’s catalog for being its smallest chronograph to date, at 39 mm in diameter by 14.6 mm high. The watch features a sleek, stainless-steel case with stepped, ovular chronograph pushers; the Teutonia’s signature lugs; and a thick crown that aids in its 100-meters in water resistance. Polished surfaces and details highlight the straightforward shape of the case, adding an elegant touch to the otherwise somewhat sporty design.

On the dial, a grained white background plays host to the simple configuration, with blue, black, and applied accents highlighting the various timekeeping elements. Two parallel subdials, for a 30-minute chronograph counter and the running seconds, add some visual intrigue, while a subtle date window at 6 o’clock provides additional functionality. A pair of blue steel alpha hands indicate the time, driven by the Caliber MU 9419, an automatic movement with a 62-hour power reserve and a stylized rotor, all visible behind a sapphire exhibition caseback.

Teutonia IV Small Second

Alongside the chronograph, Mühle-Glashütte is offering the Teutonia IV Small Second, a black-dialed, time-and-date watch geared toward slightly more formal wear. Its steel case matches the style of its stopwatch-equipped sibling, here sans additional pushers and sized slightly larger, at 41 mm by 12.6 mm. This watch is available on either a leather strap or a five-link steel bracelet.

Underneath the sapphire crystal, the formal character of the watch becomes apparent, its dark dial imparting a sense of mystery and intrigue on the wrist, though not one that is not ever overpowering of the business attire for which it’s intended.

The dial carries forth the Teutonia IV’s sense of simplicity, with an outer seconds ring, small applied markers for the hours, a small seconds subdial produced in an early 19th-century vintage style, and a 3 o’clock date window. Another pair of alpha-style hands sweeps over it all, here powered by the Sellita Caliber SW 461-1, enhanced with Mühle-Glashütte finishing. The mechanism is capable of a 41-hour power reserve and is protected behind a sapphire caseback that helps provide the watch its 100-meter water resistance.

Teutonia IV Lady

Completing the trio of new releases is the Teutonia IV Lady, which actually encompasses two new models in two distinct colorways: the burgundy “Himbeere” and light blue “Pastellblau.” In the Lady design, we find the same Teutonia IV case shape, now shrunken to a modest 33.5 mm by 10.2 mm sizing and thus intended for those who prefer smaller-wearing watches.

On both colorful dials, the configuration remains the same — an outer minute ring, punctuated at each quarter position with an applied hour index, supplying the frame; a date window at the 6 o’clock position, a printed circle dividing the minute ring and the center; and another pair of the collection’s signature alpha hands determining the time. The ever-reliable Sellita SW 200-1 powers the Lady models, visible behind a sapphire caseback and offering a 41-hour power reserve.
