Meet the 84 Shortlisted Watches in the 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève

The 2021 edition of the Grand Prix d’Horologerie de Geneve (GPHG) has just announced the shortlisted (pre-selected) watches that will be competing for an award in one of the 14 categories (as well as for the “Aiguille d’Or” award, which recognizes the overall best watch among all the entrants).

Shortlisted watches will traditionally also be part of a travelling exhibition (shown here is the 2020 edition, the 2021 exhibition program is currently under preparation).

“Building on the contribution of over 500 significant stakeholders representing the main sectors of the international watch industry, the GPHG Academy has conducted its first round of voting and selected 84 timepieces across 14 categories.”

Loking at this year’s shortlist, Piaget (5), IWC (4), Bulgari (4) and Breitling (4) have the most nominated watches:

The GPHG Jury, which is drawn from the Academy, will select the award winners during the second round of voting, a few days before the awards ceremony, to physically evaluate the 84 nominated watches and to proceed with the ballot in the presence of a notary. The nominated watches will also be submitted to the vote of the entire Academy, which is currently composed of more than 500 members. The result of their digital vote will be added to the final tally that will determine the prize list.

The names of the winners will be announced on November 4, 2021. This year’s awards ceremony will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the GPHG.
