A Look Back: The 3 Biggest Surprises at SIHH 2014

3. Calibre de Cartier Diver Watch

Likely candidates to introduce a new, thin professional divers’ watch at SIHH would be IWC, Panerai, or Jaeger-LeCoultre. Especially if the watch has passed all the technical requirements of ISO 6425, which determines whether a watch is professional-grade and can be stamped with the “Diver’s Watch” designation, as this one is. But the brand taking the plunge into the professional dive watch market is Cartier, world famous as a jewelry and watch design maison, and not so much as a sports-watch shop. Cartier says the new Calibre de Cartier Diver Watch is the thinnest professional dive watch on the market, with a thickness of 11 mm and water resistance to 300 meters. Inside is Caliber 1904 MC, Cartier’s first in-house automatic movement launched in the original Calibre de Cartier watch in 2010. The new Diver watch comes in four steel models, starting at $8,200, and a rose-gold one ($28,100). Click here for more on the Calibre de Cartier Diver.
