WatchTime’s July-August Issue is On Sale Now!

• In our cover feature, “Two Timers,” Alexander Krupp tests a pair of bi-compax, 1970s-inspired chronographs, the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 1887 Jack Heuer Edition and Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue, and reports on the pros and cons of each of these sporty (and relatively affordable) Swiss mechanical watches. • Our editorial package on trends and new products from the 2014 Baselworld watch fair kicks off with some (perhaps) good news for watch buyers. In the investigative feature, “Finally, Some Sensible Pricing,” editor-in-chief Joe Thompson explores how Swiss luxury watch brands are adjusting their prices to adjust to the new, post-China-boom era. This is followed by our huge product section, in which WatchTime’s editors give the goods on more than 75 new timepieces that debuted at this year’s Baselworld.

• Technical editor Mike Disher tests two very different watches in this issue. “Test Case” is WatchTime’s first review of the new Cartier Calibre de Cartier Diver, the first professional-grade dive watch from the watch-and-jewelry giant. “Code Name Ultra” provides an in-depth look at the Bremont Codebreaker, a flyback chronograph inspired by, and incorporating historical remnants of, the World War II-era British cryptologists of Bletchley Park. Robert Atkinson provides original photography for both.

• Three pilots’ watches with extra-large cases — the Bell & Ross BR 03-51 GMT, IWC Big Pilot Top Gun Miramar, and Zenith Montre d’Aeronef Type 20 GMT — go under the microscope in the comparative review feature, “Flying Saucers,” by Martina Richter and Zuckerfabrik Fotodesign.

• Richter is also called upon to review this issue’s most complicated watch, the Montblanc Meisterstück Heritage Perpetual Calendar. “Write On Time” provides a detailed critique of the watch, part of Montblanc’s new Heritage Collection commemorating the 90th anniversary of the iconic Meisterstück Pen.
