The September-October 2015 issue of WatchTime is on newsstands now (and also in the WatchTime online shop), featuring our test of the Rolex Cellini Time, a tour through Breguet’s most historic watches, a report on the evolution of Citizen’s Satellite Wave GPS technology, and more. Scroll down for highlights from the issue…

• In the cover story, “Cellini Goes Automatic,” Jens Koch tests the Rolex Cellini Time, one of the first self-winding models from Rolex’s often-overlooked collection of gold dress watches, equipped with in-house Caliber 3132. Original photos are by Nik Schölzel. (You may also download this article from the WatchTime online store.)

• Gisbert L. Brunner offers a survey of Breguet’s most important timepieces — from circa 1780 to the modern era — on the eve of the Swiss haute horlogerie brand’s first major United States museum exhibition. “Breguet Milestones” is also offered as a stand-alone download in the WatchTime online shop.

• In “The Ranger Rides Again,” Martina Richter examines the Tudor Heritage Ranger, a recently introduced piece from the Rolex sister brand, which harks back to a watch launched a half century ago. Does it stand the test of time? This article is also available as a download from the WatchTime online shop.)

• Editor-in-chief Joe Thompson does double duty in this issue, first with “Ralph Lauren 2.0,” a corporate profile that looks at the future of the Ralph Lauren Watch & Jewelry Co., and then with “Wave Action,” an in-depth analysis of how Japan’s Citizen Watch Co. has positioned its Satellite Wave GPS technology as a high-tech alternative to the rise of the smartwatch.

• For the watch test article, “Cave Diver,” Koch and Schölzel take the Sinn U2 S dive watch deep into the craggy darkness of a water cave. Find out if this rugged, robust timepiece emerges unscathed.

• Another Japanese watch brand, Casio, gets its due in “G Wizards,” as WatchTime contributor Craig Hawes takes us inside the high-tech facilities where Casio makes its cult-favorite G-Shock watches.

• Plus: an excerpt from a new book tracing the history of Piaget and its impact on the watchmaking world; a fascinating photo essay showcasing the complexity and fine finishing of the components used in high horology; a selection of watches new to the market, a look at F.P. Journe’s surprising new ladies’ collection; and more.
