Bremont Announces 5-Year Partnership with England Rugby, Unveils New Bremont Rose

At the end of last month, UK-based Bremont announced its latest partnership with England Rugby, and with it revealed the newest watch in its collection, the Bremont Rose. The partnership is a five-year agreement for Bremont to serve as England Rugby’s official timekeeper, and to celebrate the launch of this significant move, the brand has unveiled a special celebratory model in the new Bremont Rose watch, a special edition of Bremont’s ALT1-C chronograph.

The new partnership will include much of the standard fare associated with watch companies becoming official timekeepers for sports teams. Bremont will now brand all match clocks around England Rubgy’s stadium, as well as work with individual players to dually promote both the team and the brand’s watches. Their first brand ambassador will be player Tom Curry, a 21-year-old flanker from Houslow renowned in the sport for his toughness, and whom Bremont sees as living up to its motto, “Tested Beyond Endurance.”

The new Bremont Rose uses the familiar ALT1-C chronograph design, but also adds clear efforts by the brand to further “Anglify” the aesthetic. Its 43-mm steel case uses rounded lugs, secured to either a blue leather strap or a steel bracelet; rounded pushers for its integrated chronograph; an enlarged crown; and a flat bezel encircling the dial.

The dial’s banked outer edge hosts a printed railroad-style minute ring with a subtle red triangle with two dots — a nod to Bremont’s heritage as an aviation-focused watch brand. The model also features printed black Arabic numerals at each hour position, a date window at 6 o’clock, and two subdials for the running seconds and the 30-minute chronograph counter, both embossed with white textured roses. Sweeping over the dial are two slim, blued steel hands, while a simple red pointer is used for the chronograph seconds function. The dial is notably adorned with “England” as its country of origin at the bottom of the dial, rather than Bremont’s typical “London” — the first time the British brand has ever used this distinction on its watches.

Beating inside the new watch is the Bremont Caliber 13 1/4” BE-50AE — a heavily modified and excellently finished ETA 2836-2 that is COSC chronometer-certified and capable of a 38-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback, dominated visually by its rotor with a gold-colored, engraved English rose and red “Swing Low” text — tributes to the iconic symbol of England and to the Twickenham anthem (that is, the song of England Rugby’s hometown), respectively.

The new partnership reveals that while Bremont is serious about international expansion — most notably in the American market, with the U.S.-exclusive H-4 Hercules Limited Edition “Spruce Goose” released last fall at WatchTime New York — the company still strives to maintain its position as a prominent, defiantly English watchmaker. Bremont’s position in the British Isles has long been a central aspect of its brand identity, and becoming the official timekeeper of the famed national rugby team — a team and a sport which are iconically and quite obviously English — only further establishes its strength in this arena.

The new Bremont Rose is currently available for pre-order directly through the brand’s website for $6,595 on the leather strap and $7,195 on the metal bracelet, and will begin shipping at the end of February.

  1. Very nice watch. But…I always fell these special edition watches are just a sponsorship con. If there was any collaboration with the rugby world the chronograph would time at least 40 minutes, if not the full 80 minutes of a rugby game. It’s just a normal watch on a rugby players wrist.
    Still a nice watch though.
