RGM Donates Watch for Auction to Rebuild Playground

Pennsylvania-based watch brand RGM has joined a group of fellow local businesses and community residents in Mount Joy, PA, who have pledged financial assistance in the effort to rebuild “Kid’s Joy Land,” a community-built playground destroyed in an arson fire in 2012.

To help raise the more than $100,000 needed for the rebuilding project, RGM company founder Roland G. Murphy listed on eBay a one-of-a-kind model in RGM’s Model 151-B collection. The watch is distinguished as unique by its special custom engraving on the case sides and custom etching of the Mountjoy, the historic ship for which the Lancaster County town of Mount Joy is named, on the sapphire caseback window.

The watch features a 38.5-mm-diameter, stainless steel, American-made case with a thin bezel and large blue dial. The movement is a modified ETA 2892-A2 with automatic winding, 21 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vph. RGM has applied many haute horlogerie decorative flourishes, including rhodium finishing, côtes de Genève, and perlage. RGM says that the design, assembly, custom engraving, and etching on the crystal are all done in the U.S.A., and the brown Ostrich strap is also American-manufactured.
