Video: Assembling Blancpain’s Carrousel Minute Repeater

Blancpain is the oldest watch brand in the world. Its workshop has been in the family since 1860, when Louis Elisée Piguet found an abandoned mill above Le Brassus, in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, and made it into one of his workshops for Grand Complications. That tradition continues today, because Grand Complications are what are made in one of the two facilities that Blancpain maintains to this day in the Vallée de Joux.

The main workshops, where many types of watches are made, are in Le Sentier, but in Le Brassus, Grand Complications are the specialty. In this exclusive video, WatchTime contributor and event partner Jeff Kingston visits the latter atelier to follow the construction and assembly of the Blancpain Carrousel Minute Repeater — from engraving to hand finishing to its two-stage final assembly.
