  • TAG Heuer

TAG Heuer was established in 1860 as the Uhrenmanufaktur Heuer AG in Switzerland. The TAG Group acquired Heuer in 1985 and rebranded the company to TAG Heuer. Luxury group LVMH (Bulgari, Zenith, Hublot, Louis Vuitton) acquired TAG Heuer in 1999. The words TAG Heuer stand for Techniques d’Avant Garde and the founders name (Heuer).

In the early 20th century Heuer’s timepieces could be found in cars, planes and boats as clocks and timekeeping instruments. This line has been refreshed in the 1960s and discontinued the instruments 20 years later. Heuer also produced watches for high-speed sports events, many of these watches are still in use today and set standards for the whole industry. Among the notable TAG Heuer watches are the TAG Heuer Carrera, TAG Heuer Grand Carrera, TAG Heuer Monaco, TAG Heuer Link, TAG Heuer Calibre 1887, TAG Heuer Calibre 16, TAG Heuer Calibre 17, TAG Heuer Mikropendulums.

The first ones appeared in the company’s catalog in 1882; they were followed by a parade of technically innovative chronographs that continues to this day. Here are seven highlights from TAG Heuer's history of chronograph watches.
