SWATCH GROUP 2019 RELEASE:

Omega Adds Three Gemstone-Enhanced Watches to the Speedmaster Moonphase Family

Alongside the new Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 Limited Edition in stainless steel and the updated Omega Seamaster 300M Chronograph that we covered on Friday, Omega has also released three new versions of the Speedmaster Moonphase that offer a decidedly luxurious take on the classic design through the use of precious metals and gemstones.

The new Speedmaster Moonphase collection comes in a 44.25-mm case that has been constructed out of a platinum-gold alloy (Pt950Au20). The bezel ring is made from either polished ceramic [ZrO2] in the blue or green designs or aluminum in the red version (pictured above). In all three iterations, the Speedmaster Moonphase includes a brushed platinum Liquidmetal tachymeter scale.

As well as having blackened hands, the dial features 18K white gold indexes that are set with baguette-cut diamonds in the blue-accented model, rubies in the red version, and emeralds in, you guessed it, the green design. The moon-phase disk, located at 6 o’clock, is made of colored ceramic with dueling moons made from the same proprietary platinum Liquidmetal construction as the tachymeter scale. As with previous Speedmaster Moonphase releases, the new versions have two stacked registers. At 3 o’clock, you can find the hour and 60-minute display; at 9 o’clock, the date and small seconds.

Inside each of the three new watches is automatic Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 9905 that has been certified by METAS and is visible through the sapphire crystal exhibition caseback. The column-wheel equipped movement utilizes a silicon balance spring as well as two barrels mounted in series that help offer up a 60-hour power reserve. In addition, the movement features what Omega is describing as a “special-luxury” finish with 18K Sedna gold used for the rotor and balance bridge.

Pricing for the new Speedmaster Moonphase models starts at $54,000 for the ruby and diamond (blue) models and goes up to $61,600 for the emerald version. You can expect to see all three watches at your local Omega retailer this July.
