60 years old but young at heart: Certina’s hallmark sports timepiece, the DS-2, celebrated a small anniversary in 2022. With its tonneau-shaped stainless steel case measuring 40mm by 38mm that is water resistant to 200 meters, the latest addition to the family is a truthful interpretation of the first models that featured the DS system that stands for “double security.”
As it is dubbed in the name, the DS-2 Powermatic 80 boasts a state-of-the-art automatic movement with up to 80 hours of power reserve and an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring for improved chronometric performance. The ETA Powermatic 80.611 that drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and a date can be seen through a pane of sapphire in the case back.
The watch is available in four versions, with luminescent dials in matt black and satin-brushed silver, blue or black, and a choice of a Milanese mesh bracelet or a NATO strap made of tide ocean material. Pricing is marked at approximately $922 when converted to USD.
