10 Wrist Shots From SIHH 2017


When a new watch is launched, watch lovers are interested in its technical specifications, its movement, its design, its complications. But even when they know all that, they’re still wondering: What is is the watch like in real life? How does it look and feel on my wrist? Here are a few wrist shots our editors took of new timepieces launched at SIHH 2017 in Geneva, to answer a few of those burning questions. The new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar expands the brand’s Royal Oak Perpetual collection. The watch — both case and bracelet — is made of black ceramic. Through the sapphire caseback of the 41-mm case you can see the self-winding Caliber 5134. For $93,900 watchlovers can make the all black Perpetual Calendar their own.

The Baume & Mercier Clifton Club Shelby Cobra CSX2299 Limited Edition is part of the brand’s new Clifton Club collection. It is limited to 196 pieces and is equipped with a flyback chronograph function. The price is $7,950. More information about this new Baume & Mercier watch here.

Usually, Greubel Forsey only creates one dial for each of its platinum watches, as the brand reminds us in a press release. So the new Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision is, in fact, extraordinary, because it is available in four different dial colors. One of them is the blue version shown in the photo above; the others are “Salmon,” “Chocolate,” and “Anthracite Black.” All watches are sold for $345,000 each. The Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph from IWC is just one of the new Da Vinci watches the brand launched in Geneva. It’s price is $29,900, but there is also a rose gold version with silver-plated dial for $40,000 available. Another vintage inspired watch from the Da Vinci collection – which was the collection IWC focused upon this year – is the Da Vinci Tourbillon Retrograde Chronograph, which we present in this article.

5. Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large White Gold

The Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large from Jaeger-LeCoultre is available in white gold (as in the picture above) or rose gold. The white-gold version has an amethyst-colored guilloché and grained dial ($ 40.000) while the rose-gold watch features a silvered guilloché dial ($28.000). Both cases measure 38.2 mm in diameter and contain the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 735. 6. MB&F HM 7 Aquapod

The HM 7 Aquapod from MB&F proved to be among the most buzz-worthy timepieces from this year’s SIHH. It comes in two versions: a titanium-cased model, which is limited to 33 pieces and is sold for $98,000, and a $118,000 rose-gold model, which is limited to 66 pieces. Panerai‘s new model Luminor 1950 Regatta Oracle Team USA 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio is one of the watches that the brand launched as the new official partner of the 35th America’s Cup. 8. Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli Double Flying Tourbillon

This is the Excalibur Spider Pirelli Double Flying Tourbillon from Roger Dubuis, powered by the new RD105SQ hand-wound caliber. The skeletonized movement is visible through both sides of the 47-mm black DLC titanium case. The power-reserve indicator is at 9 o’clock and inspired by racing car cockpit fuel gauges, according to Roger Dubuis. The price of the Double Tourbillon is $???.

9. Ulysse Nardin Marine Tourbillon

The Ulysse Nardin Marine Tourbillon is powered by the self-winding, in-house movement UN-128, with a 60-hour power reserve, on display at 12 o’clock on the dial. The white grand feu enamel dial showcases the large flying tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock. Housed in a 43-mm steel case, the price of this chronometer-certified tourbillon watch is an astounding $28,700.

    Enjoyed the wrist shots immensely.

    My only grouse is – instead of 169 KBs or so, I wish the pictures were XL-sized i.e. at least 500 KBs or even larger, so that we could enlarge the pictures by clicking on those.
