SIHH 2014: Zenith Pays Tribute to the Wright Brothers

zenith_pilot_150

This year Zenith honors the Wright brothers with a watch issued in a 1,903-piece limited edition: the Pilot Montre d’Aéronef Type 20 GMT 1903. Of course 1903 is the year Orville Wright successfully flew the appropriately named “Flyer” over a distance of about 130 feet at the Kitty Hawk dunes in North Carolina.

This latest addition to Zenith’s Pilot Montre d’Aéronef collection offers an invitation to travel with a second time zone indicator. This piece, which measures 48 x 15.8 mm, is powered by a Zenith Elite caliber 693. The case is black DLC-treated titanium. The caseback is engraved with the Zenith Flying Instruments logo, and an image of the Wright Brothers’ plane.

A sturdy wristband in beige suede leather completes the authentic vintage look. The strap lining features a heat-embossed motif with the inscription “Zenith Flying Instruments”, as well as the brand’s historical logo.

The Pilot Montre d’Aéronef Type 20 GMT 1903 will be priced at $8,600.

Wright Brother have played a major role in the way we travel today. An imagination of a flying plane at that time was a strange concept. Many prople would have critisized them too. Salute to them for chasing their dream !
