From the Las Vegas Watch and Jewelry Shows: Ball and Bremont

p150WatchTime is attending the Couture and JCK Watch and Jewelry Fairs in Las Vegas this week, and we’re getting a chance to check out (and try on) some cool timepieces that we missed at Baselworld back in March.

At the Couture show, held at Vegas’s luxurious Wynn Hotel and Casino, We visited Bremont, where brand co-founder Nick English showed us many of the interesting new watches and told us about the initiatives his brand is planning for this year and next. Among the timepieces is the divers’ watch pictured below, which is at the moment still a prototype. According to English, it will be able to descend to 2,000 meters despite having a sapphire exhibition caseback (he assures us it will be some very thick sapphire). Note the “London” on the dial, rather than “Swiss Made,” which indicates that a majority of the watch’s parts are made in England, a point of pride for this British brand.

Over at Ball Watch, we got an up-close look at the two limited-edition models that pay tribute to the brand’s railroading heritage, the Grand Central Terminal anniversary piece and the Union Pacific Big Boy model, pictured below. The Big Boy (pictured below) lives up to its name, with its massive case diameter and extra-large micro gas tubes on the hands and indices that give it an extreme gleam in the dark. Check out the watch under a black light in the second photo.
