The year 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of dive watches carrying the Seiko brand name. And we are invited to the party with at least two limited editions, the Seiko Marinemaster 50th Anniversary limited edition and Seiko Prospex Diver 200.
With the officially announced SBDX012, Seiko introduces another version of its popular Marinemaster dive watch, with gold accents on the dial and bezel. There will be 1,000 pieces of this high-end dive watch available. Considering the relatively high number of pieces, and the few differences between the limited edition and the standard model, some may have difficulty deciding which of these watches to go for, the standard or limited edition. (If you are a serious collector of Seiko watches, the decision is, of course, easier).
Boasting less exclusivity, but offering more changes to the standard model, is Seiko’s new SBDC027 model: it is based on the slightly larger Seiko Prospex Diver 200 (nicknamed “Sumo”) and will be limited to 2,000 pieces. With retro-style hour and minute hands, bezel insert, and dial, there are not as many similarities to the company’s first dive watch model as one might have hoped for, but the watch itself certainly looks interesting — or at least different enough to merit a short review, hopefully in the very near future (both watches are expected to be available by the end of January).
Prices for Seiko’s anniversary dive watches are as follows: The Seiko Marinemaster (Ref. SBDX012) is 280,000 yen (about $2,340) and the Seiko Prospex Diver 200 “Sumo” (Ref. SBDC027) is 80,000 yen (about $670).

Philip, please check your e-mail in a couple of minutes. Best regards, Roger
Dear Roger, it’s your fault anyway, that I am wearing a Marinemaster, if I fall for the limited edition as well, I’ll blame it on you again ! :-)
Reto, in my defense: I have a similar problem but no one else to blame other than me… :-)
Any idea of where I could get the SBDC027 when it becomes available?
Larry, I sent you an e-Mail.
