BASELWORLD 2018:

Introducing the Breguet Marine 5527 with Live Images

Earlier today, we had the chance to go hands-on with the brand new Breguet Marine collection at Baselworld 2018. Last year saw the release of the Breguet Marine Équation 5887. This year, the series has been expanded to include three new models with a variety of complications.

Today, we’re highlighting the Breguet Marine 5527, a chronograph model that comes in three different case materials: rose gold, titanium, and 18k white gold. We were able to view and photograph the white gold and titanium models.

The rose and the white gold versions feature a guilloché wave motif across the center of the dial that might be familiar if you remember the 5887. The titanium version features a beautiful sunburst slate grey dial. The minutes counter is at 3 o’clock, the hours counter is at 6 o’clock, and the small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock. There’s a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. Each model is individually numbered and signed by Breguet. The watch features Roman numerals and the facetted Breguet hands are made of gold and applied with lume. The central chronograph seconds hand is inspired by century-old maritime codes. All three models come on either a rubber or leather strap.

Inside all three models is the self-winding Caliber 582QA that has a 48-hour power reserve and an inverted in-line lever escapement with silicon horns. It also has a silicon balance spring.

Stay tuned for more Baselworld and Breguet coverage coming soon.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is their a defect on the face above the E & G? Is this one a pre production model?

    • If you refer to the 1st close-up picture with the XII at the left, what is above the EG is a portion of the wave pattern that actually crosses right underneath the bottom left of the B and pops out at the top left of the E.
