A. Lange & Söhne Sponsors F.A. Lange Excellence Award


p150For the third time in a row, A. Lange & Söhne is sponsoring the F.A. Lange Excellence Award, which involves eight young watchmakers from Austria, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the USA vying for a prize of 10,000 euros. The participants have to construct a date display on the basis of an ETA 6498 movement.

The participants attended several workshops at A. Lange & Söhne where they learned details about finish techniques and the Lange way of assembling a movement. They have until November 9, 2012 to submit their entry. A jury of watch experts will judge their work based on innovation, originality, functionality, technical quality and craftsmanship, as well as artistic quality. The winner of the competition will be announced on December 6 and the prize money is earmarked to supporting their future watchmaking skills.
