Founded in Hong Kong in January 2017 by a group of self-described “watch addicts,” Lenvino Watch Co. launched its first Kickstarter campaign, in December of that year, to fund the “World’s First Minimalist Design Rectangular Tourbillon Watch.” After 40 days, it raised a total of HK $427,860, becoming the most backed tourbillon project on Kickstarter that year.  In April 2018, the company followed it up with its second Kickstarter project, the “US$149 Japan Automatic Vintage Racing Watch,” which raised a total of HK $1,344,752 in just 30 days to become another surprising success.

Since then, the company has launched 11 projects on Kickstarter and totally funded over 3 million worldwide. With the passion that it brought to all these previous projects, Lenvino returns to Kickstarter to introduce its latest, the first tourbillon project under the new sub-brand NORNIR, called the Celestial Collection.

The “NORNIR” in Norse mythology are three godlike beings who rule the destiny of humanity. The watches are designed in a space-constellation thematic style to reflect this powerful brand name. Lenvino says its goal with Nornir is “to create luxury timepieces by combining historical craftsmanship and inexhaustible creativity.”

With “NORNIR,” Lenvino plans to offer high-quality products with unique and exclusive designs comparable to luxury watches sold at department stores but at a fraction of those watches’ retail prices.

Human have used constellations for thousands of years for a variety of reasons. In agriculture, constellations with their patterns of the stars could help determine when the seasons were coming before the birth of calendars and watches. Constellations also helped navigators and explorers to find their way across the planet while keeping track of the time.

The Celestial Collection celebrates 50 years since man set foot on the moon, a milestone in space exploration. Their designer curates this authentic collection by translating the essence of space constellations into grand modern design with historical craftsmanship and ambitious creativity. The time-tested automatic HZ 3C10 co-axial multifunction tourbillon movement, with a 40-hour power reserve and accuracy of +/- 20 to 40 seconds a day, also counts 24-hour and day-night indicators among its functions, coupled with well-proportioned cases and sapphire crystals. The timepieces also offer interchangeable genuine Italian calf leather straps to choose from.

The selling prices start at $599 and Lenvino offers many discounted packages to choose from as well. The first 50 pieces of each design variant will be branded “Initial Edition” and individually numbered. The watches will come engraved with “N ゚XX/50” engraved on the caseback.

To differentiate the design from that of other luxury watches, Nornir’s designers draw inspiration from the aesthetics of space constellations while still emphasizing traditional watch craftsmanship.

The distinctive dial structure places emphasis on a star-pattern motif on the bridge in the front and on the use of skeletonization to bring out the inner nuances of the finely made, engine-turned “Perlage Manuelle” pattern on the main plate of the tourbillon movement.

The co-axial tourbillon mechanism floats at 6 o’ clock on the dial, surrounded by a sharp metal edge that completes one revolution every minute. The day/night and 24-hour indicators are relegated to recessed subdials at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, respectively.

The time is displayed by the Syringe Hands, painted with Super-LumiNova, which are large and legible enough for easy reading of the time in the dark.

Watches in the NORNIR Celestial Collection feature a well proportional case with a curved bezel. The case is enclosed by a flat sapphire crystal on the front and a screw-down exhibition caseback with a vintage telescope-printed pattern, allowing owners to enjoy a view of the movement.

The case that houses that movement is a very wearable 42 mm in diameter and 14.5 mm thick at its highest point. It is water-resistant to 50 meters. The metal parts are made from 316L stainless steel, which translates to greater corrosion resistance and durability in high temperatures. The strap also feature a quick-change spring bar system allowing the wearer to swap out different straps for every occasion.

The Celestial Collection range comes in four color combinations, with options for design variants in designated rewards tiers. Dial variations include Silver/Blue, Gold/Silver, All Black, and Rose Gold/Black.
